Community Guidelines

This page summarizes Indireads’ community guidelines. Please read the following guidelines in detail as these guidelines or any amendments made to these terms from time-to-time form a legal agreement between Indireads Incorporated (referred to as Indireads) and you (referred to as the “user(s)”) the user of the Indireads website www.indireads.com (referred to as the “website”).

Simpler Terms: The Community Guidelines is a regularly updated document. These are the basic rules and can be modified at any time. Yes, we will inform you of changes to the guidelines, but you are responsible to follow them, whether you read them or not.

Indireads encourages lively debate in its blogs and comments. However, it is not responsible for the content or material of any individual postings. As a participant in the Indireads.com community, you remain at all times solely responsible for the contents of your messages and any consequences arising therefrom. Use common sense while posting.

Simpler Terms: Talk about whatever you want related to the books, but once you post it, you own it. We will not be held responsible, legally defend or protect your comments. If you post any copyrighted material, you will be held legally liable, not us.

We reserve the right to delete or move messages that we deem off-topic, abusive, defamatory, obscene, in violation of copyright or trademark laws, or otherwise unacceptable. Advertising of any commercial product or service on these forums is not permitted. Chain letters and pyramid schemes are similarly prohibited. We reserve the right to remove the posting privileges of users who violate these standards of behavior at any time. We will not tolerate harassment, abuse, or the threatening of other members. If brought to our attention, we will review objectionable postings and take whatever action we, in our sole discretion, consider appropriate, including but not limited to removing messages. Users may highlight any objectionable comments that they read on the Indireads website and request Indireads to take action immediately.  Users should send an e-mail to contact@Indireads.com with any such objections.

Simpler Terms: This is not a playground for people to bully others, spread rumors or sell other people’s stuff. If you do it, you will be banned from being able to post comments.

Specifically, users on the Indireads website:

  • Should not include any HTML tags in their comments.
  • Should not include any profanity, obscenities or vulgarities in their comments.
  • Should not include comments that defame anyone.
  • Should not include any comments that are hateful to any religion, gender, sexual orientation or any community.  All forms of hate speech are prohibited.
  • Should not include names, phone numbers or addresses of other people or organizations
  • Should not include any URLs (website addresses) unless sharing an external link directly related to the topic under discussion or book being reviewed.Should not include any advertising or commercial solicitation.

Please keep on topic: responses to a particular thread should be on-topic and pertain to the discussion. Posting the same message to many topics or boards is considered spam. Duplicate messages will be deleted or consolidated by our moderators. Moderators will assist with focusing topics and enforcing guidelines and will have the ability to delete posts, to move, close or delete topics, and to temporarily moderate users’ posts. Any messages you post will stay available to the public for as long as the page is online. Any impersonation of a user within these forums, in any mode of communication, is strictly prohibited and will result in a banning. Please post carefully, once you have posted your message it is here to stay. Simpler Terms: YOU must keep your comments on topic. We will be looking for comments that are posted on numerous pages and delete them, possibly banning you for doing it. We can, and will, delete any comment that is not on topic. If you pretend to be another user, other than yourself, you will be banned.

You further acknowledge that, as a contributor of material to Indireads.com’s community, you are granting (or warrant that the owner of such rights has expressly granted) to Indireads Incorporated and its affiliates a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive right and license to use, reproduce, broadcast and publicize your postings or any part thereof in any manner whatsoever, without any compensation to you. In addition, you acknowledge and agree that you have waived any “moral rights” in your postings.

Simpler Terms: If you post a comment, and we like it, we can use it in our marketing for a specific book, the overall brand or anywhere we chose. You will not be compensated (paid) for the usage.

We encourage your participation in our community; however, we expressly request that you do not use these sites to send us any unsolicited creative ideas, suggestions, or materials (collectively the “Creative Ideas”). By contravening this request and submitting the Creative Ideas to us, you hereby waive any ownership rights in such Creative Ideas and acknowledge they will become our property. As our property, we will exclusively own all rights to the Creative Ideas worldwide, and will be entitled to the unrestricted use of the Creative Ideas for any purpose, without any compensation to you.

Simpler Terms: DO NOT use the comment sections to pitch story ideas. If you do, you no longer own the idea and it can be used by either Indireads or anyone who is browsing the website to create a book. If we use the idea to develop a book, story or other materials, you will not be compensated (paid) for the idea.

Any sweepstakes or contests conducted by authors personally are not endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with Indireads Incorporated. Indireads assumes no responsibility for any material outside of Indireads.com which may be accessed through any link accessed via Indireads.com, and, unless otherwise indicated at Indireads.com, Indireads.com is not sponsored by or affiliated with the linked sites.

Simpler Terms: Authors are people and not Indireads, so if they run a promotion or contest anywhere, whether on the indireads.com website or their own personal websites, we are not responsible for anything that they promise. This includes but is not limited to giveaways, discounts, and promotional offers.
